Cook'n Recipe Organizer Review and Giveaway
How many times have you bought a recipe book and lost it? How many times have you asked a family member or friend for a recipe and you miss place the piece of paper or card before you even get to try it? Me I have done it many times. I remember asking my Sister-in-Law for a recipe twice and both times I lost it without even making it first. The second time I was just to embarrassed to admit I had lost it again and gave up on having it. If this has happened to you then Cook'n Recipe Organizer is a program you should try.
You can now have all your recipes in one place. You can enter them manually or if you find a recipe you would like to try on the internet you can use the capture feature to have it automatically imported to Cook'n for you! I love this feature since I am always looking for new recipes to try. I usually find a piece of paper to jot it down and then I leave it on the counter and eventually it gets to the trash.
You can also print a family cookbook from Cook'n with your choice of theme! Just add the recipes to Cook'n under the same file name (cookbook name) select the theme for the recipes and just print them out. They make a great Christmas or Mother's Day present. Honestly they would make a great wedding present too!
My favorite feature of all is the menu planner. I can create the menu for the week, create a shopping list and then print it out all from Cook'n. I can also see the nutrition information and estimated price of the items I will be purchasing. One more cool option with Cook'n is that as of June there will be an app for iPhone, iPad and Android. You will be able to sync your Cook'n and have your grocery list with you at all times! Have a last minute request for a recipe? No problem just grab your phone and pull it up! It's that easy!
Cook'n also has many recipe collections available for purchase on their website. The prices are not outrages and starting out a just $0.99! That is right just a few cents! There are over 120 cookbooks to choose from.
Now here is the fun part. I have been given the opportunity to giveaway a copy of Cook'n Recipe Organizer to one of my lucky readers! If you do not want to wait and see if you win use coupon code mb-fourisplenty and get 50% off your own copy of Cook'n!
I was provided a copy of Cook'n Recipe Organizer to review and give my honest opinion. No monetary compensation took place or was exchanged. All opinions are my own.
Do You Fondue?
So I received a call on Monday from my husband with instructions to make reservations at the Melting Pot for Friday (May 25th). After double checking the picture and number on my phone (making sure it was indeed my husband) I complied. I went online to their website and made the reservations. I love the fact that you can do that. It also asks if it is a special occasion and gives you the option to select flowers, balloons and such. I submitted and reserved our table and that was it. I received a confirmation by email with in a few minutes. On Thursday I received another email reminding me of our reservations. I thought it was a nice touch. Once more reminder came via phone the day of reservations.
We arrived early since we did not know how traffic was going to be. Had a bit of difficulty finding parking but it all worked out fine. We sat at the bar till our table was ready and ordered some Mojitos. I had the Lemon Berry Mojito and my husband had the Mint Mojito. They were pretty good I think. A bit on the strong side but good none the less. We got our table just on time not a big wait at all and our experience began. We decided to go with the Chef Inspired 3 course meal since it was our first time. The first course was a cheese fondue. We selected the Boston Lager cheese dip. Can you say yum? It came with some green apples, vegetables and bread to dip. She brought in the ingredients and cooked it right at our table. The aroma was amazing.
Our next course was the salad. We both went with the ceasar salad. It came with sweet pine nuts I had never tried before. It added a nice sweetness to the dish I think. Up to this point there was no food left behind! Then came our main course. My husband picked the Classic which had Seasoned choice Angus sirloin, Pacific white shrimp, herb-crusted chicken, Memphis-style BBQ pork tenderloin, teriyaki-marinated sirloin and wild mushroom sacchetti. I picked the Lobset Delight that had Cold-water lobster tail, Pacific white shrimp, herb-crusted chicken, Memphis-style BBQ pork tenderloin and teriyaki-marinated sirloin. You also get to choose what it is cooked in! We chose the Mojo which was Caribbean-seasoned bouillon with a distinctive fresh-garlic flavor and a citrus flair. I was able to taste the cilantro more than anything but it was very good. We managed to eat all of the food including the vegetables that were placed inside the cooking pot. They added potatoes and broccoli to cook with mushrooms on the side
.
At this point we honestly did not think we could eat another bite but we decided to go for the dessert anyway. We picked the Flaming Turtle. It’s an irresistible combination of milk chocolate, caramel and candied pecans flambĂ©ed tableside. Along with it to dip was fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats®, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies. We did have a hard time finishing up this plate.

Summer Begins
This school year has gone by so fast. I have seen my kids grow in the blink of an eye. While I am grateful there will be no more running around from school to practice then work, it also means I need to find a way to keep them entertained. I really do not want them on electronics all summer.
This year I have decided to purchase a family Zoo pass. It was not very expensive just $70. It will pay for itself the first two times I go to the zoo. Kids are looking forward to see the animals and spending time outdoors. I have planned on going once a week and visiting a different section each time. I know that here in Oklahoma the temperatures get in to the 100's and I do not want the kids to get crispy. Not to mention I know the younger ones will start getting tired of walking and are doing to complain a lot after a few hours.
We have also planted a garden this year. The kids helped me make a kind of raised bed (not the best construction lol). We planted a lot of veggies like tomatoes, eggplant and cucumbers. We also have zucchini, squash, peppers, asparagus and a few herbs. I look forward to eating them at harvest time. They are doing great so far. I am hoping that it does not get as hot as it did last year. My veggies did not survive and I was only able to harvest two or three zucchini. I did manage to find a few carrots when I was turning the beds and getting the dirt ready for this years planting season.

As you can see the zucchini and squash are growing like weeds. I have already harvested my first zucchini and boy was it yummy. What do you have planned for the summer?

New Arm & Hammer package
I went shopping yesterday for a few items. Mostly baking stuff to make snacks for the kids. I had to pick up some baking soda and I found the new Arm & Hammer packages! I think they are so cool and very useful. No more spills! It now has tear off tabs on both side and it covered in a cloth like material for ventilation. How cool is that! The price is the same as the original box, I paid only $0.82 at wally world.
Another cool feature on this box is the location for the date. It brings a visible space to write in the date you open it. No more guessing! I no longer have to search for a spot that will be easy to see. I also no longer have to tear the house apart looking for a permanent marker. A simple pen or pencil will do as you can see. If you haven't tried it yet consider doing so. You will love it!

Going Crazy!
OK so my kids are of various ages ranging from 14 to 4. Each on has chores to help out around the house. The biggest issue seems to be getting them to remember to do them. How is it that they can remember TV show times, game codes and when a movie is coming out months in advance but they can't remember their chores from day to day? This is a great mystery to me. If they do manage to attempt to do their chores they do a very crappy job.
I think what bothers me the most is the dishes. I wash dishes 5 times a week and the older two each have one day. I get home at night and either dishes are not done or they are shoved without wiping down into the broken dish washer that is only good for rinsing. Then I find a pile of 6-7 dish rags piled in the sink that smell and the sink itself is covered in food. What part of this seems done? I know that at 14 and 12 they can do dishes correctly. They have done it before. I am sure that two days a week is nothing compared to families that have kids doing the dishes all the time. So why do they keep giving my the run around? I am at a loss here.
On the other hand when they want something they are very quick to call me mean when I say no. Funny...
