So with all my weight gain I have decided to try and become a better cook. Why? Well to be honest if I am going to eat healthy I want all the flavors to come through. The day of plain old "rabbit food" is long gone. There are so many delicious recipes out there that are bursting with flavors, it makes eating healthy a new and exciting experience.
The main reason some people do not eat healthy is because "healthy foods cost more". This is true if you are trying to eat zucchini in the middle of winter. You have to eat what is in season. For a list of what is in season take a look here. There are many options to choose from. Now keep in mind if you are a picky eater it may be a bit more difficult for you to get a variety of foods not to mention you will pay more.
If you have not used allrecipes.com you may want to check it out to find some recipes to try. I have used it to find new recipes for anything from homemade ice cream to sweet bread. Another good way to keep healthy is eat smaller portions. My bad habit was that I would fill the plate and sometime come back for seconds. Now I use a smaller plate for my meals. This helps me control how much I eat.
I have also been trying very hard NOT to fry foods. While I am not always successful in that aspect, I have limited it to once a week. Sorry but who doesn't like a piece of good old fashion Southern Fried Chicken Paula Dean style. I found this recipe on the Food Network website and it was a hit. Don't be afraid to get creative either. Sometimes we can come up with great meals when we follow our taste buds.
